“Safe Word” Chicago Premiere

Safe Word is a short comedic thriller produced by Flicker Effects Media in 2013, and has been doing incredibly well in the film festival circuit. So far Safe Word has been accepted by 20 festivals, including Frameline in San Francisco, Inside Out in Toronto, and Palm Springs ShortFest, where it was voted as an audience favorite. Chicago’s Reeling Film Festival will be hosting the hometown premiere in the comedic shorts program “Love Is A Monster” on September 20. We are incredibly proud of its success to date, and look forward to unleashing it on local audiences!

Hip Hop Doc

Last week Flicker Effects had the pleasure of being the Chicago Production Coordinator for a TV documentary on Palestinian Hip Hop artists, currently titled “Arabeesh.” Shot on location in Chicago and Beruit, the 45 minute documentary profiles four musicians and is slated to air in over 50 countries, mostly in the Middle East. Under the direction of LA director Hassan Said and Executive Producer and Host Maha Awad, the lean local crew shot over three days at various locations, including Pilsen, Andersonville, and Lincoln Park, and despite some rainy weather transformed the city into an inspiring backdrop for these talented young artists .

Going to Work – Antonette

Produced by Supportive Housing Providers Association, shot and edited by Flicker Effects Media. Antonette had been mixed up with gangs and drugs from a very young age while growing up in Chicago’s Humboldt Park, and after receiving a stiff prison sentence, she managed to turn her life around with the help of the Employment Project at Inspiration Corporation.
